Five Steps to Support Decisions About your Future
- Get to know yourself: there are so many resources that can help you explore your skills, passions, values, learning styles, interests etc.
- Research Careers: Do you know that it takes to get into the field of your choice? What are the day to day responsibilities with this career?
- Get Work Experience. Getting "real world" experience in a career that interests you can really help make your goals a reality. You can job shadow, apply for an internship, volunteer, or apply for a formal position
- Explore and research your options for further education. There are so many opportunities out there: university, college, polytechnic, apprenticeships, etc. There is NOT "a-one-size-fits-all" approach to YOUR future.
- Create a plan and a timeline of actionable steps. Set a realistic but ambitious set of steps. Do you need to upgrade? Should you apply to job shadow? What is required for your application? When are the due dates for scholarships or school applications? Set up your timeline; plan ahead.
